Anthropologists take a broad approach to study human beings and many different aspects of human experience by considering the past and the present. Anthropology is a science that deals with the study of the origins, physical and cultural development, biological characteristics and social customs as well as beliefs of human beings. There are many subfields of anthropology, some of them being archaeology, biological anthropology, cultural anthropology, and linguistic anthropology.

Career Opportunities in Anthropology

  • Academic
    Anthropologists can teach in the anthropology department at the undergraduate and the post graduate level or conduct research in the research settings. Anthropological Survey of India conducts fellowship programmes for carry out research for the young and promising scholars.
  • Corporate and Business organizations
    Anthropologists are in demand in the business settings paying heed to their research skills which are useful in analyzing consumer preference patterns in order to find out ways to improve the products and services that better meets the needs of the consumers.

  • Develop intervention procedures, using techniques such as individual and focus on group interviews, consultations, and participant observation of social interaction
  • Collaborate with economic development planners to decide on the implementation of proposed development policies
  • Build geographic information systems (GIS) to record, analyze, and cartographically represent the distribution of languages, cultural and natural resources
