Most of us in recent times must have come across articles accentuating the significance of STEM Careers in the coming future. If you have what it takes to pursue a degree in the STEM domain, you have great chances of landing into a high paying job. But what if you hate Maths? However, take a deep breath and read on. Let’s take you all through the best courses after 12th commerce without mathematics in 2024.
In order to ease the process further, I have bifurcated the career options into two parts.
First, where I will be highlighting the vivid undergraduate programs.
Second, where I will be emphasizing on the professional courses one can pursue without acquiring high-level mathematical skills.
Undergraduate Courses
- B.Com Hons. and B.com Prog.
B.Com Hons. or Bachelor of Commerce is a three-year undergraduate program and is also one of the most popular choices in the commerce stream. Topics like financial accounting, corporate tax, statistics, management, company law, auditing, and business management are taught along with a variety of elective subjects to choose from in this three-year undergraduate program.
Admission to B.Com. Hons. programs in various Universities specify that students should either be studying Accountancy or Mathematics to be eligible, so you are good to go without Math in that case. However, for some colleges math can be a requirement, so students need to be aware of such eligibility in their targeted Universities. For B.com Prog there is no such eligibility for Mathematics. Both the programs currently take admissions through CUET for major universities.
- Management
The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) course is a 4-year (in some place 3-year) undergraduate degree that focuses on the fundamentals of business and imparts management skills. It provides knowledge on the various functional areas of a company and exposes you to practical training, by incorporating internships, projects, case studies and industry visits. It has various specializations such as Finance, Marketing, Business Analytics, etc.
This course is open to students who do not have mathematics, as some of the good colleges/Universities like Mumbai University, Symbiosis, Christ University, Ahmedabad University, etc. don’t have such eligibility. However, please note other top Universities may have that criteria and even if the student doesn’t have mathematics, they need to be prepared for basic quantitative aptitude and reasoning questions in the entrance exam.
- Law
One of the most sought-after careers after commerce is Law. One of the most convenient ways is to crack the CLAT (Common Law Admission Test) and other law entrance exams. This program does not involve number crunching, instead focuses on critical thinking, analytical thinking, attention to detail, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. People can consider working in corporate houses, law agencies, law firms, litigation, administrative services to mention a few.
