Right from the moment we began reading and writing, our work has always been subjected to monitoring, testing and evaluation.
\nThis constant process of tests and examinations, while on one hand prompted us to open our books and go through the concepts taught in class and gave us an insight on our performance, it created a category of sorts between the students. A great deal of students got sorted into percentage ranges based on their exam results and all sorts of stereotypes got associated with them. 95+% is a gateway to \u2018better\u2019 <\/em>opportunities and a \u2018sorted\u2019 <\/em>life, goes the saying, a compliment for those in the set, and concern for many others who lie outside.<\/p>\n

While a good percentage certainly opens many doors in this world of cutthroat competition, there\u2019s only a small sample who make it there, for the rest – it\u2019s a fight to attain the best from the possible options. In any case, life doesn\u2019t stop there. Contrary to what you might feel when you don\u2019t get your desired 95+% in your crucial 10th<\/sup> and 12th<\/sup> standard exams, it is not the end of the world. There\u2019s still a lot, that one can do to keep up with the lot going to the top colleges on their stellar scores, some of them are:<\/p>\n

1. PREPARE FOR ENTRANCE EXAMS:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Colleges these days induct students into their programs based on their performance in entrance exams. While the board exams are a measure of theoretical knowledge, entrance exams in most cases lay focus on logic, reasoning, various kinds of aptitudes and problem solving skills. Many colleges admit students based on their rank in these exams, while some others follow this up with additional rounds such as group discussions and personal interviews.<\/p>\n

2. DEVELOP ADDITIONAL CAPABILITIES:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Be it a computer application program, or a foreign language, or an online course, you can always pursue something on the side. With the regular program that you\u2019re enrolled in, you can devote your time and hone your skills with certification courses like the ones mentioned above. Many online portals offer domain specific courses, which facilitate a deeper understanding of the subject at hand.<\/p>\n

3. GET EXPERIENCE:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

\"intern\"<\/p>\n

You may also want to think about joining an organization for part time experience. This maybe a startup or a corporate organization that you want to intern with or a social organization where you would want to volunteer your time. Work ethics, management skills, team oriented work style and constant learning are some virtues that go along with experience in a business\/ social setting.<\/p>\n

4. PASSION TO PROFESSION:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

\"freelance\"<\/p>\n

While pursuing the program you\u2019re enrolled in, you may consider honing your skills in the pastime section too. Give fire to the budding photographer, writer or musician in you and try your hand at taking your passion to profession. You could freelance or work on project basis in the initial days, and slowly and gradually transform it into work that you really love!<\/p>\n

5. START UP:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

\"startup\"<\/p>\n

You can also consider starting something of your own too. With the Gen Y addressing challenges that are as innovative as their solutions to these challenges. You may take up brainstorming, due diligence and other thought centric activities, while you\u2019re already pursuing the program you\u2019re enrolled in.<\/p>\n

6. PLAN AHEAD:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Even though you didn\u2019t get the start that you wished for with a 95+% marks, you can always plan ahead for master’s programs or post-graduation degrees that pave your road to success. A smart strategy coupled with effective planning and hard work will be quite instrumental in writing your success story.<\/p>\n

Life moves in a circle, when you miss cashing on one opportunity, the other one does come in a while. In the rat race prevalent in today\u2019s time everyone does catch up, at some moment or the other, riding on a different prospect, if only he doesn\u2019t cease running and enters with additional ammunition.<\/p>\n
